New Traditions for Christmas

A few years ago, our family decided to stop buying endless gifts over the holidays.  Instead, we came up with a new tradition of playing The White Elephant Game after dinner.  Not only are we saving money (gift is only $10-$20), but it also creates a lot of laughs.

How to Play:
  1. 1.) Bring along a wrapped gift
  2. 2.) Draw a number, beginning with #1, choose and open a gift
  3. 3.) The next person will make a choice of whether to open a gift or to "steal" an already opened gift. If they steal a gift, the person with the stolen gift has an option of stealing from someone else, or opening a new gift.  A gift can only be stolen 3 times.
  4. 5.) Go to the next person in order and repeat. The exchange continues until every gift has been opened and the last person keeps their gift.

Over the years, our family has brought more "creative" gag gifts, which makes the exchange all the more fun!
