Healthy Start to 2013

Happy New Year!

I must say, 2012 was a complete success in my book!  Several amazing life changes made, ran my fourth half marathon, ran my third Cherry Blossom 10 miler, and kept to the Tone It Up nutrition plan (for the most part!).

I'm not going to lie, I felt a little sad saying goodbye to one of the best years of my life.  I keep thinking to myself, "How am I going to top last year?" but I know it's possible!

We celebrated the New Year with close friends - dinner at Season's 52 Restaurant and watched the ball drop in the comfort of our own home.  I'm usually a huge fan of celebrating New Year's but for the first time, I felt like being relaxed and comfortable in our new home (maybe I'm just getting old!?).

On New Year's Day, I made Sarah Fit's Kale & Quinoa Crustless Quiche and I cannot tell you how amazing this recipe is!  All four of us loved it!  I cannot wait to try making it again and adding some additional vegetables such as zucchini and squash.  I did change the recipe slightly and made about four times the amount of quinoa for the "crust" so instead of using 1/4 cup, I cooked 1 full cup of quinoa.

Then I decided to go for a run in the park.  It's so peaceful to just layer up and head out the front door and start running.  I ended up going almost 2 miles and came home to complete Sarah Fit's new Toned Arms in 2013

If you haven't tried it, you should download the App called RunKeeper - it's a great way to track time and mileage.  Plus you can set up fun interval runs and the App will tell you when to sprint, run steady, or run slow.

I plan to keep up the healthy eating and fun daily workouts throughout the year.  After all, it is officially 8 months until our wedding day!

Happy New Year to you!
