Cape Cod Remodel: HVAC and Plumbing Complete!

It's been a few weeks but lots of work has been happening...
  • HVAC is complete!
  • New plumbing is complete!
  • Electrical and Cable is probably complete (we'll check on that this weekend!)
  • The house survived Blizzard Jonas!  Well, our front gutter fell off but other than that...

So now we're about 16 weeks into the project.  Not only is there a lot happening at the house but we've been super busy the last few weekends finalizing the tile, picking cabinet, and appliances.  There are so many choices...I'm kinda tired of deciding things but I have a feeling we have a lot more choices to make in our near future!

Master Bathroom tile: Let's just start by saying, we found a good deal!!  We've been to The Tile Shop about 3-4 times now and just haven't found anything we liked in our budget.  Ryan found this shower wall tile (small tile below) that was on sale for $1.76/sq ft.  So you bet we planned our entire bathroom around this tile!  It was exactly what we were looking for - not too tan, not too grey, not to marble-y.  And I've always wanted hexagon tiles for a shower floor so we got them to match!  The larger square tile is the bathroom floor.  YAY, it feels good to check this off our list!

Guest Bathroom & Kids Bathroom:  My Uncle gave us a great tile he had leftover from his house projects - it's a cream color shower tile and 2x2 tile.  It will be so great in the kids bathroom (our old master bathroom) but we didn't have quite enough of the 2x2 tile for the floor so we needed something to mix in with it.  One night I woke up with anxiety about the tile (which seems to happen often...) so that next morning I ran to The Tile Shop and happened to find this gem below on Manager's Special at $5.88 (down from $11.99) and I fell in love!  I just love the colors and think it will go nicely with the cream tile from my Uncle.  We also decided to replace the tile in our main level Guest Bathroom because right now it's just vinyl sticky tile and we don't think that will fly once the rest of our house is looking new and beautiful.  So, we'll use this tile below in the guest bathroom too!

Kitchen Cabinets: Our builder recommended us to work with Darren at Voell Custom Kitchens in Arlington.  We really enjoyed working with him.  We decided on our kitchen cabinets (white style below), kitchen island, kitchen pantry, and master vanity.  Both the kitchen island and pantry will be the grayish/green color but the style of the white cabinet.  We'll use that darker color as our master bathroom vanity.  We are waiting to hear back about the price...fingers crossed!

I guess that's it for now.  This weekend we'll check on the house and head off to go appliance shopping!
